Nanaimo entrepreneur says record-setting Dragon's Den deal wasn't about the money

The man whose company is behind the big restoration and renovation of the old Free Press building in downtown Nanaimo has scored a huge deal on the popular TV show Dragon’s Den (image courtesy Real Estate Webmasters).

Morgan Carey got a 2-million dollar investment offer for his company, Real Estate Webmasters.

But Carey says it wasn’t the prospect of getting cash that took him to the Den.

Carey is the latest on a growing list of local entrepreneurs who’ve survived the Dragon’s Den, but not all the deals get finalized.

Holy Crap Cereal on the Sunshine Coast made a big splash on the show 4 years ago this week,  then decided not to go through with the deal (see their story about that here). None-the-less, the exposure has been a big factor in the company’s success.
