Packed house (and more) for first Sechelt mayoral candidate forum

Voters in Sechelt got their first chance to hear from all three mayoral candidates on Monday.

An overflow crowd packed the Arts Centre for the afternoon forum.

Bruce Milne, who served two terms as mayor in ’90s, says his motivation to get back into local politics is simple.

Incumbent John Henderson says you can expect to hear a common theme from him as the campaign continues.

Christine Younghusband has already been acclaimed as a school trustee. She says leadership is her focus.

One of the specific topics the three were questioned about was the medical marijuana industry. Several companies have been looking to Sechelt as a possible location.

Henderson says he’s still trying to make up his mind about the industry.

Milne says he’s worried about the District putting effort into chasing any particular industry.

And Younghusband says her experience in education is one reason she doesn’t support it.
