A 17-year-old skateboarder was airlifted to Victoria General Hospital in critical condition after a collision near Coombs on Wednesday night.
Sgt. Joe Schofield says around 10:15pm, Oceanside RCMP responded to a report of a skateboarder hit by a pickup truck in the 2100 block of the Alberni Hwy.
Schofield says speed and alcohol do not appear to be contributing factors, but there was very little light in the area and the skateboarder from Coombs was wearing dark clothing.
The investigation is still in its early stages and the identity of the skateboarder hasn’t been released. Any witnesses are asked to call Cst. Sean Parker at 250-248-6111.
