Vital Signs to take the pulse of Nanaimo for first time

Nanaimo is the latest community to launch a Vital Signs study to track issues and trends to identify key priorities for the city.

The idea started in 2001 in Toronto and since then dozens of communities across the country have taken it on.  This will be Nanaimo’s first.

Tim Mawdsley, Director of Vital Signs for the Nanaimo Foundation, says they’ll look at 10 important areas, including housing, transportation, standard of living and health.

Mawdsley says the Nanaimo Foundation is getting support on the project from the United Way and the City of Nanaimo.

The Sunshine Coast is participating for the second time this year.
