2013 was a good year for the Sunshine Coast Community Forest.
The operation was set up in 2006, and is wholly owned by the District of Sechelt. Mayor John Henderson was on hand at the AGM this week to collect the annual dividend cheque, and he says it was a significant one.
The money will be split between funding Sechelt Innovations Limited, another District owned company, dedicated to businesses development, and a new Legacy Fund.
It’s already been announced that $100 thousand from that Legacy Fund will be going to the Davis Bay Wharf restoration. Announcements are expected soon on how some of the other money will be distributed.
Groups and projects from all over the Sunshine Coast are eligible to apply to the Fund.
