A “Child Care Action Team” on the Sunshine Coast is trying to spread the message that good child care is good business.
The Action Team came out of the Progress Plan, the group looking for ways to improve the economic well-being of women on the Sunshine Coast.
In a presentation for Sechelt Council Wednesday, Catherine Bunce of the Action Team pointed out there’s a lot businesses can do, beyond offering employees a subsidy.
The Action Team says there are around 5 thousand children under 12 in the area, and about 400 daycare spaces. And, on top of that gap, much of the demand is for child care outside what used to be thought of as normal working hours.
